The government have several economic conditions which need to be met before they say they will consider it. The trouble is that at the moment the british economy is very good against the euro so it is not an attractive change. Our government is pro euro but at the next general election who knows what will change. If you look a reason why people might be reluctant you can look at the cicumstance when italy joined. They had to meet certain economic conditions e.g. no debt...and they had lots of debt. So on the deadline night they broike even by borowing money from the world banks...being accepted then giving the money back and weakening the euro.

I tihnk at the moment 3/6 of gordon brown conditions have been met...i tihnk the descicion is likely to be put up for a referendom before any major descision is made.

ACTUALLY cast youre mind back well over a year ago, when tony blair passed the debate in the house of commons to renounce the requirement to use a refferendum on this, simply as

they will regardless of the vote of the commons or the public

so its the euro for britain unfortanatly, but in many ways it does have great advantages for my trade (engineering) that we will have a euro standard currancy, good old SI units haha
