A little bit daunting at first. Even though it's on line it's still a bit like walking into a pub full of people on your Jack Jones.

After a while you do tend to find that a lot of people know each other and are peers, in as much as they seem to have joined and worked their way up the "Honours List" at the same time but it really isn't as insular as it might be and it's really quite friendly IF you understand the system.

One thing that might be changed or explained is the somewhat intricate scoring regime because even now I'm none the wiser and while we're on the subject... what the hell was Phaarp???

I found that you have to help yourself a bit and generally suss out people. Loopy was a great help, he comes across all scary in most of his answers but was one of the first people to send an invite, some friendly words and credits to help me on my way (sorry if I've blown your rep!). Neko was just as helpful but not as scary.

I think it's down to people to continue that tradition and 'sponsor' the odd newbie with a bit of potential. I personally have supported a few new people in much the way Loopy and Neko did to me. It must work, (feels big head coming on but doesn't want to) I've been here 68 days and there is only Einstein left rank wise for me.
I like to think I have been a bit selective with questions and haven't just made bookmarks or network invites for the points.

I think a few friendly pointers in the ways of IQ and IQers feeling some ownership of the site does the trick.
