What lengths have you or would you go to, inorder to get a christmas presents, say for the kids or your partner?

I am so frustrated....
I want toys from Argos and they are out of stock for home delivery and I will have to do I guess at least a 300 mile round trip tomorrow to 2 different stores get all the 3 toys. :O(

(I have already tried to find them in other stores around the country where we have family so they could post them to me)

I have reserved them but not sure if I am going for them, as I have to be home by 1pm to take an elderly friend shopping so means a really early start, as the ones I have reserved are last in stock so have to do it tommorow.

Am I crazy thinking about doing this?

Have you ever done the same/similar or would you?

Yes, I think most people would do that, I once sent a driver from where I worked all over the country to try and pick up a special toy that my son had asked Father Christmas for in a letter

I did exactly the same trying to get hold of a Nintendo DS. Went round all the shops in Taunton & Exeter, phoned every retailer, went up to Toys R Us in Bristol - all to no avail. I was getting to the point that I would have mugged a small child to get hold of one! In the end I had to approach my daughter and ask her if if she would want something different, or wait until after Christmas. Bless her heart, she said she'd wait.

Little does she know that I managed to get the last one in Bromley (SE London) when I dragged myself in there with a huge hangover after visiting friends. Can't wait to see her face!

I am obviously in a minority here, I wouldn't. My children are not materialistic or altruistic and wouldn't be too concerned if they had to wait a day or two. They have been brought up to know the importance of Christmas and what it means to be with people you love.

Christmas spirit is not what you drink.
