Is this it? BothnianArc
The land is rising out of the sea. A century ago the sandy beach at Pite Havsbad was much smaller.
A unique feature of the region is the considerable rate at which the land is rising; about 1 cm per year. This means an increase in land area, but also shallower waters. Land elevation is an important factor in planning.
The reason for this unique phenomenon is that during the last Ice Age the region was covered by a 3,000-metre thick layer of ice. The weight of the ice pressed the land down, and since the glacial retreat, the land has risen towards its original position. The effect is an elevation trend that has been “lifting land out of the sea” since the end of the Ice Age.
