Kew Gardens. It costs to get into, which is a shame, and is quite far out of town, but it's great.

Hampstead Heath is also very impressive. And I've a soft spot for Hyde Park in the summer months.

For beauty I like Richmond Park. It has something of everything, from the Isabella plantation (amazing Magnolia in spring)to Pen Ponds, Wildlife (Deer). It is big enough to go exploring in and you can easily lose sight of the city around you. The only downside is that unless you drive there it is not particularly easy to get to.
