One word. Temperature regulation. (No letters please.) Hair does keep you warm but it can help to keep you cool too. Like an iPod. The hair increases surface area which increases evaporation thus keeping our naughty bits at the optimum working temperature.

i was always taught that the purpose of seemingly unnessisary hair was to prevent friction and rubbing of skin. kinda obvious in the case of armpits, kinda gross in the case of the "other areas" that you talk about!lol friction burns anyone?
