use rusks instead of coasters! use old cd's instead of coasters! use coasters instead of rusks! use rice paper to wrap takeaways in! make golf tees out of compressed paper! (they do that already, but they should do it for all of them, not just some of them)

local councils should encourage people to recycle everything, not just some things in some areas!

companies shouldn't send letters in envelopes with windows! it confuses people who recycle!

put pressure on manufacturers who use copious amounts of packaging for tiny objects - tell them to stop! especially crisps! you think you're getting a huge bag of crisps, but you open it up and there's nowt in it!

grrrrr.

Umm Umm , use the good old newspaper in fish and chips shops, instead of that white wrapping paper. 1 way of re-using newspaper. (chips taste better anyway out of newspaper.)
Tell the goverment to tell Royal Mail to stop delivering Junk mail.
Smaller Boxes that frozen foods come in. takes up so much space to.
Start to sell loose fruit/veg now, instead of apples ect being sold in those awful Parcels of mainly Clingfilm.
( i use my local nursery up road for my veg produce)

Do all your banking and bills electronically so you don't use so much paper. Keep those padded envelopes you recieve and re-use them. DO NOT ACCEPT PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS By earth-friendly cleansing products, or make your own with vinegar, etc. Use recycled paper & toilet paper. Re-use take-away containers. when you buy your fruit and veg, don't put them in the seperate little plastic bags. Just wash them when you get home. Recycle.

There are a myriad of answers and opportunities for a Consumer Society to be Eco-friendly, all that is required is the will and the wit to do implement these measures.

Don't buy stuff wrapped in miles of plastic, unpack the stuff at the shop and give them back the cardboards, plastic and polystyrene. Reuse and/or recycle whatever you can needs to be drilled into the very young, as well as the not so young. Before you dump that item can it be reused before it is recycled. Why buy a paint kettle when a washed out paint tin does just as well, why buy dust sheets when old and past it sheets can be used. Why buy dusters when old clothes/linen are equally as effective. Why buy a plastic pot for those odd nails and screws when an old coffee jar does just as well. It's endless really. The developing world is obsessed with new things, and has gotten used to merely dumping perfectly usable things.
