the reason why they are ex-directory (same as me.) is i dont want untold phone calls from cold sellers, also they may have a very valid reason for being ex-directory, i.e. stalker or some-one who in the past, may have made harrassing phone calls. Thts why its called Ex-Directory.

I don't understand this. You are saying you want to find the person and you have their phone number. Why don't you phone them?

In this case them being ex-directory is not relevant as reverse number searches are illegal in the UK anyway.
