Sat here watching our news, Twesbury, is cut off compelety through flooding, only way to get through and help people is Rafts and Guess what 4X4 `s ? Same as when it snowed, Only 4x4 could get through , they were also emergencies services cars, more below

So why does the goverment harp on about them so much when?, right at this moment they are helping saving peoples lives, either by evacuation or getting essentail supplies to them.
These are just ordinairy people who use them everyday helping their neighbours? i got 1, and if i could i would help out to. So why moan when they can be lifelines in situations like these?

totally think 4x4s can be extremely vital in such cases as flooding and haing had a lnd rvr dis 2.5 TDI I didnt feel taht it cost a/as much fuel as my Volvo, or b/had any more emissions than my volvo.
I cant do small cars-mainly because the average small car isnt big enough to fit cages in and a shed load of animals plus was in a bad accident with a small car and havent felt comfortable since so when I get my next car I will probably go for a 4x4 again.
Its like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.
The climate would have changed anyway but this way loads of people benefit from the perception taht buying 'greener' products financially...really drifted from the sunject there but basioca;lly the government is fulll of hyprocrits

If they didn't have private individuals with 4x4's, they'd be up those swollen rivers, without a paddle. They've sent most of the vehicles, they now need here, to Iraq and Afghanistan.

There used to be an Army vehicle depot a few miles outside Tewkesbury.

Totally agree with you on the use of 4x4's in the country but not in places like London where they are not useful and nothing more than status symbols.

4x4's yes for the emergency services and for those living outside Fort William in the bleak mid winter but not going to the supermarket for a loaf of bread and bag of potatoes on a perfectly straight flat road. You can do that on a bike (even in the rain) :-)
