Do you think that the government's international aspirations are any longer realistic?

Sorry for being flipant but have they ever been?
Which plans are you referring to exactly, because they always ahve a devious plan with some country or another in the works...

Supplement from 07/25/2007 04:28pm:

500 troops available in an emergency is not suffiocient and the resources of this country ahve been stretched very thinly. Unless more people ienlist in the armed forces this short fall looks as if it will be present for the duration and its a kind of fingers crossed thing that nothing else of consequence requires any resources.
What needs to be addressed essentially from my perspective is why there is a shortfall of 2,000 troops in the armed forces...

Our international aspirations seem to have been, for the last few years, to ram Tony's head as far up Bush's bum as possible (maybe to talk to Cheney).

Hopefully El Gordo will have a different tack, but unfortunately we seem to rely on our belligerent colonials quite a lot...

Great news for the British public that the army's reserves are depleted.
In the flurry of flag waving and bands most people forget that the primary reason all governments maintain a large armed force is the potential to deploy against you.
If one day the populace wake up, it will the guns that you have bought and paid for that you will be facing.
Ask yourself why the Spanish and French maintain foreign legions and the British their Gurkhas?
