If I didn't know what this site was I might think it was something outstanding and might offer them the job, but if I already knew then no way as productivity would slump.

I'd have to find out their username before deciding.

If that was the only interest or hobby they had I wouldn't employ them.

I don't think their hobbies would have any affect on their application whatsoever, but I'd make sure they understood to leave the site alone except on their lunch break.

Not on that information alone. A number of considerations affect the employment decision -- including education, experience, training, achievements and awards, and job interests and objectives. One's non-career interests and activities give some insight into the person, and provide some good leads for conversation.

I find it useful to administer a personality test, along with conducting one or more extensive interviews. I also like to have my associates interview the candidate.

In the end, a very key consideration is whether I like the person. If not, I probably would not hire even with good education, experience, and other qualifications. Of course, liking the person is not a sufficient reason for hiring, but it's important if everything else falls into place.

But no, membership in LycosIQ is no basis for rejecting, or for accepting, the candidate.

As long as they had the right qualifications and experience, I don't really care what their hobbies might be (unless they're illegal!).

It would also require that there is no other applicant more suited to the role (e.g. more experience)
