I was - but since I'm self-employed I'd only be asking myself for the money anyway. That said, it can be written off against tax.

You are indeedy, but they only have to pay for the glasses if they're for the sole use of when you're using a computer.

I have mine done by the company. Although it is a bit of a faff. You have to go onto the company intrnet site, apply for a pack, wait for it come, fill in forms, make an appointment at one of the approved opticians.
I have a pair of specs specifically for PC use. They had to make them 3 times. The first time they assumed i had my screen at a certain distance. I couldn't see a thing. I measured the distance from my face to the screen so that they could make another pair and still got it wrong. Third time lucky!

It's been around for over 10 years. You should also have a free eye test if your job involves the use of lasers. You should have these when you start your job, at regular intervals during the course of your employment and finally when you leave that employer.

Yup, I only use my glasses for VDU work. I go to my employer who pays for eye tests and gives us a voucher for the full or (if we decide we want really expensive designer type glasses) partial cost.

:)x
