How do i solve my Housing Problem?!

The Landlady for the property I was moving into on Friday has now decided to withdraw the Sofa & Chairs from the Furnished Flat - as she refuses to upgrade the furniture to meet fire & safety regs. She is also refusing to pay for the Electrical Testing on the inbuilt Sauna in the Bedroom - which cant be taken out. We have already repaid a non-refundable £300 deposit - but what should we do?!

you should contact citizen's advice - the landlady has not complied with the terms and conditions of her own rental contract and it could be declared null and void unless she does the work required. i'd also look for a place to stay in an emergency, by the sounds of it.

all i would add to this as beeper has said what i would have said is what ever you do, do not move in as it maybe seen as you accept the flat as part furnished where you payed for fully furnished by the sounds of it
and your deposit is fully refundable if she is or has broken her own terms of contract
possible idea is to go see a solicitor that gives you the first hour free and see what they advise

Our land lady won't fix a back door, saying it fine with a piece of wood wedged in it, even though the wind blows it open! Citizen advice and shelter basically told us we could only ask her repeatedly to do it, or sue her which would be fun, as I'd end up moving anyway due to tensions from this! Unfortunately, there's no easy answer.
