If a bus' engine has stopped can the doors still open?

In terms of crashes or whatever.

Yes. There is an emergency over-ride button located on the outside of the bus as well and is usually clearly marked


Supplement from 05/31/2006 04:43pm:

There is also a button to stop the engine in the result of an accident and the engine is still running, usually found adjacent to rear engine compartment.

Also depends on the age of the bus - on the ones with folding doors, all you need to do is push in the right area (shoudl be marked) and the doors will open, with some force. In case of emergency, there should also be a special window that can be pushed out and provide a means of escape (the same as on the trains)
